Designing for Veterans is a 501(c)3 nonprofit interior design organization that believes the built environment can have a tremendous impact on the physical and psychological life experience of disabled veterans when returning home from war.

It is the mission of Designing for Veterans to aid and assist severely disabled veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars  through  pro bono  interior  design  services, that  address their individual  needs by

creating  fully functional, barrier-free, aesthetic and therapeutic environments offering veterans the opportunity and ability to live independent and active lives.

Our work goes beyond making the environment accessible.  We create environments that heal.

Through volunteer service work of professional interior designers, architects, engineers, and landscape architects these environments are customized to meet the needs of each veteran.

The building of the project is provided by the support of industry suppliers and manufacturers who donate their products and trades who volunteer their skill and service for the construction.  Designing for Veterans practices green building principles established by the United States Green Building Council dedicated to designing quality and healthy interiors while reducing energy consumption, waste and negative environmental impacts on our communities. They support and use universal design principles and evidence-based design procedures and practices.  Additional support comes from public donations, fundraising and grants.

These projects are designed, furnished and built at no cost to the veteran or their family.
